Create and share beautiful books

Another cool feature of Kinzin is the ability to create and share online Books. There are two different ways you can create books: Page by page, or by importing a set of photos from Flickr.

Adding photos page by page

The simplest way to create a book in Kinzin is to add the photos page by page. Click on Create a New Book... and give your book a title, and click on Create Book. You’re now looking at the first page of your book. Add a photo, title and description by following the instructions in the page template. When you mouse over the page, you will see an Add New Page button on the bottom right corner. Click on this button to add a second page to your book. If you wish to delete a page from your book, you can use the Delete link on the bottom right, which is also visible when you hover your mouse over the page.

When you have more than one page, the hover menu on each page also gives you the option of moving the page up or down, which equates to earlier or later in the book.

Importing photos as a book

You can also import a Flickr Set all at once to make a Book. If you do this, Kinzin will pick up the titles and descriptions of all the photos, and will use the name of the Set as the name of the book. Click on Create a New Book… and you will see a configuration screen for Flickr. If you haven’t already set up the connection, you need to log in to Flickr and approve the connection to Kinzin. Once you’ve done that once, you can import and browse from Flickr freely, until you log out of Flickr. Once you’re logged into Flickr, you will see the Flickr logo, your Flickr username, and the number of photosets you have to import from. Click on the Flickr logo to see a full list of all of your Sets. Clicking on one will import all the photos into a Kinzin book. Kinzin will even pick up the titles and descriptions so you don’t need to re-enter them.

Depending on how many photos are in your set, it may take some time for the Set to import completely. You can continue to do other things in Kinzin while you’re waiting. You’ll see the “Importing…” status message beside your book which will disappear when Kinzin is finished getting all your photos from Flickr for you.

Commenting on photos

Invited friends and family (and you, too) can add a comment to any page of a book in Kinzin. Each page has a comment field at the bottom. Just type your comment and click the Save button. Your comment will be added above the comment field, at the bottom of the page.
